Lists and grouped content

Lists and grouped content

Use ul when order does not matter, ol when sequence matters, and dl for term-description pairs. Lists communicate relationships to browsers and assistive technology; do not use them merely to indent content.

Try it yourself

Change the example, run it, and explain the result in your own words. Then create one variation of your own.

Key idea

Use the example as a starting point, not something to memorize. Practise, inspect the result and make small improvements.

Code example

<ul><li>HTML</li><li>CSS</li><li>JavaScript</li></ul>
<ol><li>Plan</li><li>Build</li><li>Test</li></ol>
